Mairead & Chris – Seafields Hotel, Gorey wedding
Mairead and Chris are living and from London but both spent as kids many a summer in Ireland where their grandparents are from. Seafields Hotel in Gorey, Co, Wexford was where the bride and groom choose to have their wedding held and arrived here with just over 200 guests most of whom had flown in from London the day previous.
The rugby was on that morning of the wedding very early and the bride and groom are fanatic about Rugby, even heading to New Zealand on honeymoon to catch the next leg. Chris was able to catch the game that morning with the lads but the girls couldn’t as hair and makeup and the morning preparations start early from the girls, us boys have it easy I admit. The girl’s makeup was done by Making faces from Gorey, the girls were busy getting ready, all the bridesmaids, the bride and some of her friends enjoyed a glass of bubbly whilst getting pampered and ready for the day ahead. The girl’s room had a balcony that runs in an L shape around the room and overlooks the ocean and a manicured golf course, a perfect location to show off stunning Ireland to our London guests and let some fresh air on this summers morning.
Mairead and her sister Irish danced in London since they were kids and were thought by an Irish priest in London, the same priest traveled over to marry Chris and Mairead, the church they choose was a beautiful stone church in the center of Gorey town. Mairead arrived to the wedding in a lovely cream Royles Royce accompanied by her father, Mairead’s sister and the other bridesmaids were there to help out Mairead and help her fix her dress and get her ready to walk down the aisle to her future husband, Mairead linked her dad as he walked her down the aisle, a beautiful classical piece of music was played by a string quartet as Chris waited nervously, I love this raw emotion as you can see in the photo. One part of the ceremony that jumped out at me was the interaction of singing between the guests and the priest, unlike our Irish Catholic wedding. This was lovely to see.
The reception was had on a terrace overlooking the ocean and a manicured golf range, where drinks and canapes flowed and the guests chatted and soaked in the sizzling summer afternoon. We took a golf buggy down through a forest with the bride and groom to a private beach at the back of the hotel for their couple portraits, needless to say, the bride and groom got lots of attention and admiration on the beach that day. Chris skimmed stones across the water bring back childhood memories of doing this on holidays in the summer in Ireland. This night finished off with speeches and dancing and some very funny and some very emotional moments spoke about – this opens up to some great photos of guests expressions.
