Derek & Emma – Brandon House Hotel Wedding
My morning started with meeting Derek and the boys who were in the groom’s parents home having breakfast and getting the wedding cars ready, putting bows and ribbons on to take them to Ferrybank Church, Ferrybank church is a lovely traditional church on the top of the hill in Ferrybank and overlooking Waterford City and the quays. Our bride Emma lived close by, which was my next stop. I like to capture a wedding without invading on someones day and prefer to stand back in the background and capture moments as I see them, I blended in here and saw and photographed some lovely moments between Emma and her Sisters who were her bridesmaids. I always love seeing a dad see his daughter in her dress, as a father of a daughter I identify the love a father has for his daughter. That spring day in May was just stunning and the guests chatted outside the church with Derek and the bridal party, an easy job for me as the mood was pure excitement and all faces showed this. Derek waited nervously but with lots of excitement for Emma to arrive down the aisle with her Dad walking her to the top of the altar to her husband to be. The church service was very personal with friends doing readings and speaking heartfully about the bride and groom. The service went without a hitch and the bride and groom walked hand in hand from the church to be greeted by the guests made up of family and close friends. I had met with Derek and Emma the days previous to their wedding to plan where we would take photos and we found this stunning laneway close to the river Suir and not far from the church, this location gave us lots of variations to capture some couple portraits, this took us around 15 mins and lots beautiful couple portraits were captured. Pre-planning is so important to the smooth running of a wedding day, this assures the bride and groom are not away from their guests for too long and that they enjoy their complete wedding day. I’m always aiming to have the family photos done in around 15 mins and the wedding couple photos done in another 15 to 20 mins. The Brandon house hotel, in New Ross, is where the reception was held. Before I finished that day I got access to a flat roof overlooking the wedding party having drinks outside and got a complete group shot of the couple with all their guests.
